William A. Valerian
Chairman, President and CEO

William A. Valerian, Chairman, President and CEO, joined the Bank as a Director in 2001 and as a member of management in 2004. A veteran of the banking industry since 1969, Mr. Valerian most recently was Director of Mortgage Consulting for Smythe Cramer Realty's HMAC and previously was the Director of the Muldoon Center for Entrepreneurship at John Carroll University, the President of Charter One Investor Services, a subsidiary of Charter One Financial, Inc. In addition, he held positions of CEO, COO and Chief Loan Officer (CLO) at Home Bank and CEO and COO of Haverfield Corporation, holding company of Home Bank. Prior to Home Bank, Mr. Valerian served in various capacities for Third Federal Savings and Loan.

A well-respected, dedicated volunteer, Mr. Valerian currently holds leadership positions with: Cleveland Institute of Art; Julie Billiart School; Alta House Neighborhood Center; and, First Suburbs Consortium Development Council. Mr. Valerian has a long history of civic involvement including formerly serving as Chairman of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Greater Cleveland, member of the Steering Committee of Civic Vision 2000, Trustee of Notre Dame College, National Chairman of the Institute of Financial Education, Trustee of the former Child Guidance Center (now Applewood Centers) and Board Member of St. Ignatius High School. He is a graduate of Marquette University and Leadership Cleveland.

Richard C. Ebner
Chief Operating Officer and
Chief Financial Officer

Richard C. Ebner, CPA, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, joined the Bank in 2004. Mr. Ebner is directly responsible for the financial and operational aspects of the bank and brings more than thirty years of banking experience to the job, primarily in the Cleveland area. Mr. Ebner was previously CFO of DeepGreen Bank, an internet-only bank, prior to that he acted as COO, CFO and Treasurer of both Haverfield Corporation and Home Bank. He also served in supervisory officer capacities at Charter One Bank and Society National Bank (now Key Bank).

Mr. Ebner is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.

James M. Hojnacki, CPA,
Executive Vice President
and Chief Lending Officer

James M. Hojnacki, CPA, Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer, joined the Bank in 2004. Mr. Hojnacki has over two decades of experience in commercial banking, underwriting, business development and public accounting. He most recently served as Regional Vice President of Provident Bank. Previously, he served as an Assistant Vice President with Keycorp and as a Senior Accountant with Price Waterhouse.

Mr. Hojnacki is a member of the Accountancy Board of Ohio, Trustee of Cascade Capital Corporation, member of the Leadership Hudson class of 2007, Treasurer of the Hudson Farmers Market and a Finance Committee member at Valley Christian Academy.

Ron J. Majka
Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Team Leader

Ron J. Majka, Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Team Leader, is responsible for leading all commercial and real estate lending efforts for the Bank. Mr. Majka has a diverse background in high growth, entrepreneurial activities, including leveraged corporate finance, small business sales and operational management. Prior to joining Liberty Bank in 2008, he spent 12 years with National City Bank, most recently as a Senior Vice President and Senior Relationship Manager in the Upper Middle Market lending group, managing a $500 million loan portfolio. Prior to this role, Mr. Majka served as a Director in the Loan Syndications Group, a successful start-up effort within the bank. During his tenure at National City Bank, Mr. Majka’s experience included raising over $3.0 billion in debt capital for his clients, serving as banking relationship manager for some of Northeast Ohio’s most prominent public and private companies, and helping to build productive, winning teams.

Mr. Majka’s community activities include: acting as advisory board president of the Shaker Youth Center; serving as managing director for Promise Partners, an organization that fosters small business ownership among Weatherhead alumni; and, serving as a volunteer for Junior Achievement. A resident of Strongsville, he is currently active in the Strongsville Youth Soccer Organization. Mr. Majka earned an MBA from the Weatherhead School of Management and holds a BS in Business Administration from Ohio State University.

Christine M. Black
Vice President
and Manager of Deposit
Services

Christine M. Black, Vice President and Manager of Deposit Services, joined the Bank in 2005. With more than 25 years in the banking industry, Ms. Black most recently served as Assistant Manager of Deposit Services with Charter One Bank in Cleveland. She also served as Supervisor of EFT Claims/Settlement with Charter One. Previously, Ms. Black was Assistant Vice President of Deposit Operations for Home Bank, N.A. in Cleveland.

Ms. Black earned a Bachelor degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Kelly Harting
Assistant Vice President / Manager, Beachwood Office

Kelly Harting, Assistant Vice President/Manager, joined Liberty Bank in 2005. Prior to managing the Bank's Beachwood office, she managed the Twinsburg office. Previously, Ms. Harting served as Sales Development Administrator with an Akron-based bank where she was awarded three "First in Service" awards. She also held prior positions in sales and marketing with Automated Packaging Systems and with MBNA Marketing Systems.

A resident of Bainbridge, Ms. Harting earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Kent State University.

Adam T. Cook
Vice President and Manager of Loan Services

Adam T. Cook, Vice President and Manager of Loan Services, joined the Bank in 2006. A seasoned banking professional, Mr. Cook is responsible for managing Liberty Bank's Loan Services Department. Prior to joining Liberty, he served as a Client Consultant and Account Executive for FISERV VISION. He also served as Compliance Officer, Deposit Operations Administrator, and Chief Information Officer with Century Bank in Parma, Ohio. He brings more than 15 years of banking and technology expertise to Liberty.

Mr. Cook earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio.

Bernard P. Dietzel
Vice President / Commercial Real Estate Lender

Bernard P. Dietzel, Vice President/Commercial Real Estate Lender, joined the Bank in 2008. He brings 30 years of diversified commercial real estate experience in accounting, property management, loan underwriting, loan origination, loan servicing and distressed loan management. He previously held positions as Vice President of Commercial Real Estate, Vice President of Commercial Mortgage Loan Servicing, Financial Analyst, Controller and Manager of Loan Production with various other local financial institutions.

A resident of Richmond Heights, Mr. Dietzel earned a B.S.B.A. in Accounting from John Carroll University.

Glen Goykhberg
Assistant Vice President / Manager, Twinsburg Office

Glen Goykhberg, Manager of the Twinsburg Office since 2008, began his career at Liberty Bank in the management training program, spending time at all three locations in various capacities. He was named as an Assistant Vice President in 2009. Prior to joining the Bank, he served as a senior customer service representative and as a mortgage loan originator with a national bank.

A resident of Solon, Goykhberg earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from John Carroll University. He is an active member of the Twinsburg Rotary and the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce.

Brian Gray
Assistant Vice President / Manager, Solon Office

Brian Gray, Assistant Vice President/Manager, Solon Office, joined the Bank in 2007. Prior to his promotion in 2008, Mr. Gray served as Business Development & Manager - Solon Office with Liberty Bank. Previously, he served as Assistant Manager and Licensed Investment Representative with a Cleveland area bank. A resident of Lyndhurst, Mr. Gray is a member of the Solon Kiwanis Club and the Solon Chamber of Commerce. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree and an Associate of Applied Science degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, with a minor in Business Finance.

Patricia S. Helmuth
Assistant Vice President -
Loan Operations

Patricia S. Helmuth, Assistant Vice President - Loan Operations, joined the Bank in 1996. She is the Bank’s Security Officer. A veteran of twenty-five plus years in banking, Ms. Helmuth started her career with the former Twinsburg Banking Company where she worked in all areas of retail banking. She has served the Bank as a commercial loan officer, a loan servicing and retirement account specialist, a systems coordinator, and as a new accounts specialist.

Ms. Helmuth attended the University of Akron. She has continued her banking education with the Community Bankers Association of Ohio where she attended the compliance school. She is a volunteer for Team in Training, the fund raising arm of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and the Twinsburg Relay for Life.

David J. Kucera
Assistant Vice President
and Controller

David J. Kucera, CPA, Assistant Vice President and Controller, joined the Bank in 2004. Mr. Kucera has over 18 years of experience in financial institutions. Most recently, he served as Assistant Controller at DeepGreen Bank, an internet-only bank. Prior to DeepGreen, Mr. Kucera served as a Senior Financial Analyst at Charter One Bank and Assistant Controller at Home Bank.

Mr. Kucera earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree at Lake Erie College with a major in accounting. He is a certified public accountant in the State of Ohio, a member of the Ohio Society of CPA’s and the American Institute of CPA’s.

Daniel Parnin
Assistant Vice President / Compliance Officer

Daniel Parnin, Assistant Vice President/Compliance Officer, joined Liberty Bank in 2005. Prior to managing the Bank's compliance and quality assurance operations, he held numerous positions with Chase Manhattan Mortgage Corporation (Chase Home Finance) and its Central Land/Home Operations, including Senior Operations Analyst, Project Manager and Mortgage Officer. A resident of Broadview Hts., Mr. Parnin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Walsh University.

Maria Parrino-Alvarez
Assistant Vice President / Director of Cash Management Services

Maria Parrino-Alvarez, Assistant Vice President/Director of Cash Management Services, joined Liberty Bank in 2005. In 2006, she was instrumental in opening the Bank's Beachwood branch which she managed for one year. Ms. Parrino-Alvarez previously was an Account Executive with Acordia of Ohio in corporate healthcare sales. A resident of Chagrin Falls, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Miami University.

Amy Potchen
Amy Potchen
Assistant Vice President / Network Administrator

Amy Potchen, has served as Liberty Bank’s Network Administrator since 2002 and was named as an Assistant Vice President of the Bank in 2009. She has extensive Microsoft and Cisco training and is a Certified Community Bank Technology Officer (CCBTO).

A resident of Aurora, she attended Baldwin-Wallace College and is currently attending Axia College of the University of Phoenix.

Jay W. Valerian
Assistant Vice President / Commercial Lending Officer

Jay W. Valerian, Assistant Vice President/Commercial Lending Officer, joined the Bank in 2004. Prior to joining the Commercial Lending team, Mr. Valerian first managed Liberty’s Solon office and then its Beachwood office. Previously, he was a mortgage loan officer for Smythe Cramer’s HMAC, where he was responsible for solicitation and processing of residential mortgage loan applications. Prior to HMAC, he was a High School English teacher and baseball coach in the Cincinnati Public School system.

A resident of University Heights, Mr. Valerian is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He continued his education at Xavier University in Masters in Education studies.

Donald M. Waytes, Jr
Donald M. Waytes, Jr.
Vice President and Senior Credit Analyst

Donald M. Waytes, Jr., Vice President and Senior Credit Analyst, joined the Bank in 2006. He was promoted from Commercial Credit Analyst to his current position in 2008. Mr. Waytes has worked over the past 10 years in a variety of business banking, investment management and commercial credit departments for several Northeast Ohio banks.

A resident of Painesville, Mr. Waytes earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Lake Erie College and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Cleveland State University.
