William Valerian receives Distinguished Marketing and Sales Award

SME Education Foundation President and 2006 DMSA Chair Dawn Southard said, "The Distinguished Marketing and Sales Awards are the profession's premier honor to acknowledge excellence and provide community recognition for outstanding sales and marketing achievements."

Valerian was selected based on his successful leadership in sales and marketing, superior planning and organizational skills, and his strong community and professional involvement.

With a successful career in the financial industry since 1969, Valerian oversees Liberty Bank's management team and operations. He demonstrated his sales and financial expertise by leading a capital raise of $5.5 million from 20 active investors. These investors have spearheaded the growth of Liberty Bank from $54 million in assets on January 1, 2004 to $137 million through January 31, 2006. Valerian also led the development and opening of Liberty's new administrative office in Beachwood last year.

Prior to Liberty Bank, N.A., Valerian held senior executive positions with Smythe Cramer's Home Mortgage Assured Corporation, Charter One Investor Services, Haverfield Corporation, Home Bank and the Edward M. Muldoon Center for Entrepreneurship at John Carroll University.

A dedicated volunteer, Valerian currently holds leadership positions with: Cleveland Institute of Art; Julie Billiart School; Alta House Neighborhood Center; and, First Suburbs Consortium Development Council.

Valerian is a graduate of Marquette University and a 1961 graduate of St. Ignatius High School. He resides in Shaker Heights, Ohio, with his wife, Diane, and has three grown sons.
